‘Ronaldo is Jordan? Messi is Chamberlain!’

Luis Enrique has compared Lionel Messi to NBA great Wilt Chamberlain after the Argentine passed 400 goals for club and country.
Messi reached the landmark with a brace in Barca’s 6-0 win over Granada, with Enrique’s comparison coming after Elche Coach Fran Escriba compared Cristiano Ronaldo to Michael Jordan, having been on the receiving end of four goals from the Portuguese in midweek.
“I think if you include the goals he has scored in friendlies and you don’t arrive at 400, you’re drunk,” AS reports Enrique saying when Messi’s tally was questioned.
“If Cristiano is Jordan then Messi is Chamberlain, who scored 100 points in a game. I’ll stick with Leo.”
Chamberlain is the fifth-highest scoring player in NBA history and is the only player to have scored more than 4,000 points in a single season.
Enrique was also asked what made the difference for his side as they racked up the goals only days after being frustrated by Malaga at La Rosaleda.
“The two games can’t be compared because it’s not the same playing at home as playing away,” Enrique replied.
“The pitch is different, the Camp Nou helps us and the players aren’t machines. We did things well, better than in previous games. We tried to solve the problems.
“To attack well and to defend well it’s important to have order. It’s important to be effective in the offensive and defensive phase.
“The players are predisposed to be better defensively. We talked about what we needed and we were better.
“The state of the pitch helped. We have been intense, precise, ambitious, effective and it’s another game gone.”
