Nigeria U-15 Crowned African Champions

Nigeria U-15 boys defeated Swaziland 3-1 at the University of Botswana Stadium to emerge champions in the football event at the Gaborone 2014 Africa Youth Games (AYG) in Botswana.

Tanzania and Mali, who ended in the second and third place picked up the silver and bronze medals respectively at the end of the round-robin tournament.
Nigeria did not just win the gold medal, they only conceded once and scored ten times in five matches without defeat at the Gabrone 2014 2nd Africa Youth Games held from 23rd-30th May, 2014.

The team defeated hosts Botswana 2-0 in their first game, drew 0-0 with Mali, humbled South Africa 3-0 and defeated Tanzania 2-0.

The six teams that participated in the football championship are Nigeria, Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Mali following the late withdrawals from DR Congo and Gabon.
