FIFA made the decision to switch the tournament to November-December to avoid the hot temperatures in the summer.
But the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has confirmed that the Spanish league (LFP) has filed an appeal with them.
A winter World Cup would force European leagues to take a lengthy
break and schedule more fixtures in the summer and LFP president Javier
Tebas filed three separate reports to Cas which stated that the league
would lose €65m (£24.5m) over that period.
According to Spanish newspaper As, Tebas (pictured) said he filed the
lawsuit “in defence of the interests of the clubs that are contributing
to the international teams”.
FIFA confirmed the new dates in March and rejected a proposal by European clubs and leagues to play the tournament in May-June
