The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee has confirmed it has shortlisted
eight IOC-recognised International Federations (IFs) who have proposed
events for inclusion at the Olympic Games.
The shortlisted IFs are; World Baseball Softball Confederation
(WBSC), World Bowling (WB) World Karate Federation (WKF), International
Roller Sports Federation (FIRS), International Federation of Sport
Climbing (IFSC), World Squash Federation (WSF), International Surfing
Association (ISA) and the International Wushu Federation (IWUF).
The successful applicants will be invited for phase two of the
process where the shortlisted IFs will submit further information by 22
July, with IF interviews scheduled to take place in Tokyo on 7-8 August
2015.
The final decision will be made by the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee at the 129th IOC Session in Rio in August 2016.
