Michel Platini Set to Run For FIFA Presidency

Michel_PlatiniUEFA President Michel Platini will this week officially announce he will be running for the presidency of FIFA.
Platini could make an announcement as early as Wednesday.
The Frenchman has reportedly received considerable support from several confederations to run for the position, such as Europe, South America (CONMEBOL), Asia (AFC) and North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF).
The 60-year-old is considered the favourite to replace outgoing president Sepp Blatter, who confirmed he will officially be stepping down last week at a FIFA press conference.
During the press conference Blatter stated: "I wish all the candidates best success, and also to Michel Platini."
Platini is expected to go up against Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan and former FIFA vice-president Chung Mong-joon of South Korea.
Presidential candidates must submit their applications to FIFA by 26 October and have the written support of at least five nations in world football. The re-election will take place on 26 February 2016
