Spain’s La Liga has announced record levels of revenue, more than €3bn, from the 2015/2016 season.
The league’s own financial report declared revenues of €3.034 billion - a 15 per cent increase on the previous campaign.
It comes after La Liga revamped the management of TV rights, making the process more centralised and aiming to emulate the example of the Premier League in that area.
According to the report, broadcasting revenues increased by €270.7m, a 30 per cent rise compared with the previous season, to reach €1.125 billion.
La Liga president Javier Tebas said it would take a few more seasons for the changes to really make an impact on the league’s poorer clubs.
“The report points to an increase in revenue, improved performance and a reduction of debt, and confirms that the restructuring process in Spanish football has been brought to fruition,” Tebas said
