City went into the final as
favourites and delivered in abundance with a devastating performance to win the
Carabao Cup final 3-0 at Wembley on Sunday.
Sergio
Aguero set the Premier League leaders on the way to victory with the opening
goal before second-half strikes from the outstanding Vincent Kompany and David
Silva finished off the Gunners at Wembley.
The
first trophy of the Pep’s regime was delivered by all the stalwart legends:
Sergio Aguero, David Silva and – in between those two – a very emotional
man-of-the-match Vincent Kompany.
In the words of Gary Neville, Sunday
was a 'dark, dark day' for Arsenal and it will be compounded when the statisticians
unleash the news that the Gunners have lost more League Cup finals than any
other side. Mustafi's error for Aguero's goal set the tone but had
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slotted in an early chance, it may have been a very
different game.
