For the first time since 2008, Nigeria
U17 Women won't be participating in a World Cup.Two
weeks after playing a 2-2 draw with Cameroon Women's National U17 team, the
Flamingos forced their hosts to a 1-1 draw at the Yaoundé Omnisports Stadium,
but it was not enough to see them qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women's World
Cup in Uruguay.
The Flamingos played to a 1-1 draw
with Cameroon in a Women's World Cup qualifying second leg on Sunday, falling
on away goals rule after a 3-3 aggregate result to miss out on Uruguay 2018.
Just a minute after the restart, a great free-kick from Monday Gift was saved brilliantly by goalkeeper Marina Ngo Esse, before Chinyere Igboamalu came close to equalizing in the 67th minute.
On 78 minutes, Martha Vincent scored from close range to ensure a nervy ending but the Cameroonian defense was not breached again.Nigeria thought they had scored a winner in the closing minutes but the referee disallowed the goal
