NPFL: MFM Claim Narrow Victory Over Akwa United In Lagos

NPFL: MFM Edge Out Akwa United In Lagos
Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) FC talisman Sikiru Olatunbosun bags the winning goal as the Lagos based team grabbed a narrow 1-0 win over Akwa United in  the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL)  rescheduled Matchday 8 game that took place at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
Both sides are representing Nigeria on the continent and prior to the game, Akwa United are now without a win in their last two games in all competitions and maintain top position in the NPFL table with 16 points despite the defeat, one more than second placed Plateau United.
MFM on the other hand moved from 16th to 7th position in the table with the win. The Olukoya boys, in their first ever outing on the continent [Caf Champions League], surprisingly, managed a 1-1 draw against AS Real Bamako in Mali while Abdu Maikaba’s men were handed a shock 2-1 loss by Gambian outfit Banjul Hawks in their Confederation Cup tie at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

MFM will now host Real Bamako in the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture at the Agege Stadium, Lagos next week Sunday, while Akwa United are away to Banjul Hawks same day in the CAF Confederation Cup.
