The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) will remain in place
after the country's government accepted a court order overruling their
prior decision to disband the organisation.
In August, Kenyan Sports Minister Hassan Wario requested that the
NOCK be disbanded following a number of issues surrounding the Rio 2016
summer Olympics. Wario had said that the travel and accommodation
arrangements made by the NOCK were not up to the required standard,
while Kenya’s Games was also plagued by other issues.
However, a judge has ruled that NOCK should remain an independent organisation free from significant governmental interference.
The Rio Games were Kenya's most successful Olympics in history, with
the East African country taking home 13 medals; including six golds and
six silvers
