Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has insisted to iSportconnect
that there is no takeover of the football club happening any time soon,
despite previous rumours.
Parish was speaking to iSportconnect not long before it was announced
that the Premier League club had entered into a partnership with
Mansion Group to become its official main sponsor.
With record profits this year of just under £23m and a highest ever finish in the top tier, 10th, last season, the club was rumoured to be attracting the eyes of investors from overseas.
But in an interview on iSportconnectTV, Parish denied the rumours and maintained he and his team were not going anywhere.
“There’s no takeover going to occur of Crystal Palace,” he said.
“There was never a takeover. We were looking at investment, which wasn’t
a story so the papers made it a story about a takeover.
“We’ve got some conversations going on and if it happens, it happens.
No matter what I say it won’t be portrayed as it happens by the press,
they’ll pick up on whatever they think the story is and they’ll make
that the story.
“But the leadership of the football club, me and my management team
will stay in place and if we take some outside investment, change the
structure of the football club, if we refinance, the other shareholders
will stay in place as well the guys who have helped me get it to where
it is now and we’ll carry on as we are. But right now, nothing is going
to happen.”
Investment from Mansion Group will certainly help the club push for Parish’s goal of “breaking into the top ten” next season.
Sagi Lahav, CEO of Mansion Group, said about the deal: “As a global
business with the utmost respect for the English Premier League, we are
thrilled with this exciting partnership.
"At Mansion we are proud to be working with a team whose hard work
and determination has seen them secure their place in the Premier League
for a third consecutive season.
“We look forward to working together with Crystal Palace on a number
of initiatives that will enhance the visibility of both of our brands,
whilst providing a platform for CPFC fans, and our Mansion casino
members, to benefit from the partnership.”
