He didn't break the world record this time but the fastest man running got the job done, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt won his 3rd World Championships 100m title on sunday right there at  the stadium where he came into lime light at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Usain Bolt won the race in  9.79sec followed closely by Justin Gatlin with 9.80sec, Gatlin has been in great shape running 9.77sec in the semi-final while Bolt was very much slower. it was one of the toughest race for the people's champion who has been struggling but managed to edge the American when it mattered most, the winning time is Bolt's slowest of all his championship victories but his fastest this year.
The final was just as prolific by the numbers. Trayvon Bromell and Andre De Grasse, the next generation of world sprinters, tied for the bronze medal, each of them running 9.92 after long collegiate seasons. Mike Rodgers was an isolated fourth in 9.94 before Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell and Vicaut were all given 10.00 in finishing sixth, seventh and eighth.

After the victory the Jamaican however claimed  he didn't have any doubt about himself heading in to the finals against Gatlin.
"I never doubt myself," Bolt said.
"I know my ability. It wasn’t a perfect race but I got it done. I definitely think this was my hardest race. I’ ve been through a lot this season, it’s been rough and Justin been running great showing up running fast times. I knew it wouldn’t be easy.
He showed the world why he is still the world’s fastest man, even when he is not the best shape he can get the job done. Bolt did not blink when facing his toughest assignment.
