FIFA Ethics Committee Recommends Nine-Year Ban for Jerome Valcke

Jerome_ValckeFIFA Ethics Committee has recommended a nine-year ban and a fine of $100,000 for secretary general Jerome Valcke after concluding its investigation into his involvement in a World Cup ticketing scandal.
The chairman of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, Dr Cornel Borbély has also requested an extension of the Frenchman's 45-day suspension, which is due to expire at midnight today (5 January).
The Frenchman was alleged to be implicated in a scheme to profit from the sale of World Cup tickets.
Valcke was initially suspended and put under investigation after he was alleged to have been involved in the re-selling of World Cup tickets for above face value and to benefit from the profits accused of being party  to a potential $10m (£6.8m) bribe paid to Jack Warner, the former head of the North and Central America football governing body Concacaf, in return for his vote and backing to South Africa's successful bid to host the 2010 World Cup .
 A statement released by the FIFA Ethics Committee said: "In his final report, the chairman of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee recommended imposing a sanction of a nine-year ban and a fine of CHF 100,000 on Mr Valcke for alleged violation of the general rules of conduct, loyalty, confidentiality, duty of disclosure, cooperation and reporting, conflicts of interest, offering and accepting gifts and other benefits and general obligation to collaborate.
"At the same time, Dr Borbély requested an extension of the suspension of Mr Valcke from all football-related activities for a further 45 days."
