Super Eagles - John Obi Mikel Brother Hospitalised

Ebere Obi the older brother of Nigeria 's new captain and Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has alleged that the owner of FC IfeanyiUbah punched him after Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League match in Nnewi the home of Fc IfeanyiUbah.
The home team IfeanyiUbah won the home game 1-0, but hell still broke loose after the match.

According to goalkeeper Ebere Obi who plies his trade with Heartland Fc in a radio interview, he was attacked by the club proprietor and his security details soon after he approached the referee to complain about his biased officiating.

“The referee booked me during the game, I was mad at him and after the game, went to him to complain about his bad officiating along with my players. He said he will report me to the NFF and then he gave me a red card. I did not raise a finger at him, but he still fell down as if I had hit him,” narrated Ebele.

“The owner of IfeanyiUbah then rushed on to the pitch and he punched me on the face and I fell down, his security men then continued to beat me, our second goalkeeper and our captain.

“I had to rush to our supporters for safety.”

He added: “I don’t know what has become of Nigerian football, but I’m so disappointed, seriously.”

However, IfeanyiUbah chairman Chukuwuma Ubah denied the accusation.

“There was no way my chairman would have attacked anybody. He came on to the pitch to intervene,” he insisted.

“Rather, I was personally attacked by a drunk Heartland player.”

An official of the Anambra FA insisted he did not see the IfeanyiUbah owner assault any person after the game as his attention was divided.

Ebere Obi is still in hospital in Nnewi receiving treatment.
