Mercedes have gone 3 races without a win for the first time in the
Hybrid Era (since 2014) as Daniel Ricciardo win the Chinese GP on Sunday to
secure his first victory since last year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with Bottas
second for the second successive race.
Raikkonen took third – a reward for a strong opening phase,Verstappen
crossed the line fourth, but that turned into fifth as the stewards handed him
a 10-second penalty for hitting Vettel. Hamilton, who has been off colour all
weekend, salvaged fourth.
Vettel had arrived in Shanghai with hopes of a third straight victory to
start the season – a milestone that when achieved in the past has always
resulted in the driver concerned winning that year’s title. That good omen may
have escaped him, but for now he’s still the man to beat. Sebastian Vettel's lead over Lewis Hamilton went from
17 to 9 points in China.
